One of the hardest things about trying yoga for the first time is getting over the fear of whether you'll fit in or not? or wondering whether you'll be able to do the poses and keep up, especially if you?re not in the best of shape.
Our community is super-friendly, supportive, and non-competitive. Our students range in age from 18- 65 and come in all shapes, sizes and fitness levels. You'll find our studio to be a very comfortable place to be yourself, enjoy your practice, and have fun.
You'll learn how to use yoga to not only strengthen your arms and stretch your hamstrings, but also to balance your mood, cope with grief or anger, find your center, and move with more ease and grace through your daily life.


Yoga reduces the fluctuations of the mind. It slows down the mental loops of frustration, regret, anger, fear, and desire that can cause stress. Since stress tends to cause so many health problems, if you learn to quiet your mind, you're more likely to live longer and healthier.
Yoga poses help to balance the two parts of our nervous system, the fight-or-flight response and the relaxation response. The latter is calming and restorative; it lowers breathing and heart rates, decreases blood pressure, and increases blood flow.
A regular yoga practice gets you moving and burns calories, and the spiritual and emotional parts of your practice may encourage you to deal with any food and weight problems on a deeper level. It may also inspire you to become a more conscious eater.

But don't lose heart! Most new students will tell you that they feel energized and have a great feeling of well-being after just one class. Usually by the third class, they are hooked on yoga and attend regularly.

I have practiced martial arts under Sifu Raffi for around 8 years now. I started (nervously) from scratch, but Sifu Raffi and all of the other instructors worked patiently and constructively to build my skills and my form. Never have I been felt down, never have I felt like I didn't belong here and never have I regretted signing up at this school. I have accumulated much knowledge and made many new friends through my experience here, and it's been completely worth every minute spent in the dojo. Also, Sensei Susan leads an incredible yoga class every week. You'll find yourself working muscles you didn't even know you had. Highly recommend.

My son has been attending Derderian for about 3 years. When I first signed him up, I didn't really know what to expect. However, the more he went, the more he enjoyed it. He started in the Tigers (younger) class just learning the basic foundations of martial arts. He has since moved up to the Dragons and is so excited and motivated to learn more and move up in the ranks. As he achieves higher belt levels and stripes, I noticed that he has gained more confidence. Its a great program and I would highly recommend it to anyone.

Our daughter joined up recently and we couldn't be happier. It's a really positive and welcoming environment with extremely accomplished and competent instructors and staff.
